# Prompts

The Prompts API returns published prompt examples with the endpoints
that can run them. It is public and needs no API key.

## List prompts

```shell
curl "https://runapi.ai/api/v1/prompts?modality=video&q=sunset&limit=20"
```

Filter with `modality`, `category`, `tags` (comma-separated), `q`, and
`model`. Page with `page` and `limit` (at most 100). The response
contains `prompts` and `pagination` (`page`, `per_page`, `total`,
`pages`).

## Retrieve a prompt

## Prompt fields

| Field | Description |
|----------
| `id` | Prompt ID. |
| `title`, `prompt`, `negative_prompt` | Title, prompt text, and optional negative prompt. |
| `language`, `modality`, `input_kind`, `category`, `tags` | Prompt metadata. |
| `preview_url` | Cover image URL, or `null` when the prompt has no example image. |
| `media` | Every example and reference item, in source order. See below. |
| `source_url`, `published_at` | Original source page and publication time. |
| `eligible_endpoints` | Endpoints that can run the prompt. |

## Media

Each `media` item describes one file attached to the prompt:

| Field | Description |
|----------
| `role` | `example_output` or `preview` for example results; `reference_input` for a reference image the user must supply. May be `null`. |
| `modality` | `image`, `video`, or `audio`, lowercase. May be `null`. |
| `media_type` | MIME type, such as `video/mp4`. May be `null`. |
| `url` | File URL. The item used as the cover has the same URL as `preview_url`. |
| `alt_text` | Text description, or `null`. |

A prompt with a `reference_input` item gives results like its examples
only when you provide your own reference image. A video-only prompt has
`preview_url: null`; read its videos from `media`.
